What is Queen Creek 4–H?

 

4-H is a youth program, for children aged 5-18.  Benefits of membership include increased self-confidence, making new friends, learning about specific project areas, and learning to be a “good citizen”. As members grow within the organization, they learn leadership and mentoring skills. The Queen Creek 4-H program is a part of the Maricopa County 4-H program, which in turn is part of the Youth Development program of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Office.

 

Who can join?

 

Although entitled "Queen Creek 4-H" , the only resident requirement is that you live in Maricopa County.   Our members are from Queen Creek, Gilbert, Higley, Chandler Heights, Chandler, Mesa and surrounding areas. 4-H members must between the ages of 8-18 as of December 31st of the current enrollment year; plus we offer a special program called “Clover Buds” for youth aged 5-7. Adults are always welcome to join us as volunteers (we call them “leaders”!).

 

How does it work?

 

Members select specific project areas they’d like to participate in. The project areas offered vary a little each year depending on our volunteer leader base. (See our project pages for information on our current project areas.) Members have a lot of fun attending project meetings to learn about their project area (such as learn how to train and show a dog in an obedience class). Additionally, all members participate in Community Club activities, including a monthly meeting for all members (1st Monday of each month – October through May), community service activities, fundraising events, etc. Community Club activities provide an opportunity for all family members of all ages to have fun together and improve their skills!

 

Is Queen Creek 4-H a Non-profit organization?

 

Yes, Queen Creek 4-H is a non- profit (501c3) organization.

How is it funded?

 

Members pay a small annual fee at the beginning of the year (fee varies depending on project selection) with most activities and personal equipment for the project (livestock, cameras, etc) paid for by each family. Fundraisers and sponsorships provide additional funds needed to operate our club. As such, we are deeply indebted to those local organizations and merchants who have so kindly donated time, materials or money to help our club. We couldn’t do it without you!
